William Tyler

William Tyler loves to play football. William plays football every day and has practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and has games on Thursday. He has been playing football for one year since he was fourteen years old. His position is left tackle. “I like to hit people,” said Tyler.

            William’s full name is William McKinley Tyler. His birthday is on May 12, 2000 which makes him fifteen years old and was born in Richmond Virginia. He has two siblings, one 13 year old brother named Jahiem and a 20 year old sister named Shatia. His favorite college is Clemson. He would like to be a professional football player when he grows up.

Will Crandall

   William Joseph Crandall wants to become an attorney when he grows up, just like his uncle, Daniel L. Crandall and the rest of his family. When Crandall was asked why he wanted to become an attorney he responded, “I want to help as many people as possible and I think I would be a really good lawyer or attorney because it is in my blood”. Will plans to attend Virginia Tech to get the proper degrees to become a successful attorney. He plans to either open his own firm or continue his family business. Will is proud to be the nephew of Daniel L. Crandall and is proud of his family’s Firm.

  William Crandall, was born in Rocky Mount, Virginia June 2^nd, 2001. Will has 2 older brothers and a sister. He is usually found playing on his phone, playing football or basketball. Will wants to eventually visit Los Angeles and Hawaii. He loves the clothing brand California Republic and is going to one day own a Maserati. Will wants to eventually take up the guitar because, “It gets girls”. His proudest accomplishment is that he has passed all of his grades and plans to continue doing so. Will’s favorite college is Virginia Tech and he plans to go there one day.

Victor Nguyen

         Victor Nguyen loves to cook. He says that when he gets older, that he wants to move to Tampa Bay, Florida and become a chef. He plans to work in a restaurant. His favorite type of food to make is seafood, in particular, sushi. Victor says he’s alright at cooking. “I love how you can mix different foods together and get one thing out of it,” said Nguyen.

         Victor was born on October 3^rd, in 2000. He has one seventeen year old sister named Victoria. Most people call him Victor but his friends call him Vicky. His mother’s name is Thai and she works in a salon. Victor has lived in Roanoke for his entire life. He has moved schools a lot. When he was a kid, he used to go to Preston Park Elementary, then he moved so he was transferred to Mountain View Elementary. When he went into sixth grade, he went to Northside Middle School. In the seventh grade, he moved to Hidden Valley Middle School. Victor used to wrestle and plans on playing football for Hidden Valley in tenth grade. He loves to fish and his favorite band is Bass Nectar. Victor is claustrophobic and his worst injury is braking his knee cap.

Trey Meehan

Trey Meehan loves to wrestle for Hidden Valley High School. He is in the weight class of 106. He has won one tournament and came in 3^rd  and 2^nd a few times. He has only wrestled for one year. He has been to wrestling camps and loves training hard. He has pinned someone in 9 seconds. “The best feeling is winning,” said Meehan.

            He is 14 years old. He has the same birthday as Tupac Shakur, June 16. His nickname is  T-MONEY. He has one sister named Alexis and one stepbrother named Vinny Buchanan and a step-sister named Emily and they all goes to Hidden Valley. His worst feeling is to loose.

 Stephen Fitzgerald is the punter and kicker for our JV team. He has played football for five years. Out of all the years he has played football his positions were linemen, kicker, and wide receiver. Stephen got good at kicking because he plays soccer also. The coaches gave him a nickname SFITZY. “Kicking football reminds me of playing soccer” said Fitzgerald.

Stephen is 14 and his birthday is February 14, 2001 and he shares the same birthday as Valentine Rodriguez. His dream job is to be a computer engineer when he grows up, and wants to go to Virginia Tech. His worst pain ever was breaking his ankle in soccer a kid stepped and chipped his ankle bone. His favorite sports are football and soccer because he likes running. He would like to move to Yellowstone, Wyoming because it’s cold. He has two brothers their names are Tallin and James.

Sarah Harris

          Sarah Harris has a lot of pets. She has Wille, Wayton and Cain as her pet dogs. Her cats name is Kittey. She really enjoys to play with them. “I really like to play with them because there lots of fun and they are so cute” said Harris

Phillip Phan

Phillip Phan loves to ride BMX bikes. He started to ride them when he was in 8^th grade and Phillip started riding them ever since. Phillip loves to bmx because one day he saw his friends riding bmx bikes, so he started to bmx.  And he has been riding ever since.

      Phillip phan was born August 14^th 2001 he was born in West Palm Beach and he has lived there for 13 years Florida for 13 years. Phillip loves to watch the walking dead and stared watching it when he was 11 years old. Phillip has 1 younger brother name AJ and 1 older brother name Danny and 3 older sisters and their names are Amanda, Katie, and Christy.

Mallory Hughes

            Mallory Hughes’s 14^th birthday was the best day. Mallory and her friends rented a boat and went to the lake. She loves to spend time outside especially with her friends. They went jet skiing then tubing. “I love being outside and being in the water” said Hughes.

            Mallory Hughes is her full name. Mals is her nickname. Her birthday is July 11^th. Mallory went to two schools, Back Creek Elementary and Hidden Valley Middle School. She was born in Roanoke, VA.  When Mallory grows up, she would like to be a photographer.  She has a brother who is 16 and his name is Dalton.  Her mom and dad’s names are Tonya and Chris. Tonya works at Williams Lighting Galleries. Chris works at Rocky Dale Quarries.

Macayla Anglin

Fashion, galore, and sometime mental frustration are all parts of being a talented future designer. Macayla Anglin is one of these home grown stars, showing off her talent daily in small dress squribbles on her paper. At 7 years old this young tot started her clothing drawing career, shooting of like a rocket of her imagination over the years. “I hope I can go to a good collage for design “Macayla says happily over her hobby like talent.

Born in Massachusetts, this now 14 year old is very interested in this type of career ever sense she was young. Having no pets she is simply unique in her own way with her small family at a top of a mountain of Roanoke, Virginia. Her dad loves motor cycles and hot wings and has master both his children in karate over the years. So mostly she is a karate master with a simple drawing dream in the end, it’s not the extreme paying job but she would enjoy it well in her future.

Leizl Lazaga

Liezl Lazaga a quiet girl in class toilet papered a house. Liezl committed this crime in 8^th grade. The reason for the misdemeanor in my opinion was well grounded. There was a boy on the bus who at this time was in the 7^th grade, but he was sitting in the 8^th grade section which is very frustrating if there is a limited amount of seating on the bus. So the boy would not move even though the 8^th grade group asked multiple times for him to move, so they took the law in their own hands. So on Halloween night the neighborhood kids Liezl, Joey, and Neekon TP (toilet papered) the house. I asked Liezl her opinion on revenge and she said “If someone is going to hit me I am going to hit them harder”.

Liezl originates from the Philippines were most of her childhood friends still live, she still keeps good contact with them. She moved to America in 2011 and has lived a happy 4 years here even saying she loves America. She has two sisters named Hazel and Rachel which she loves but they do have a hard time getting along, ones they got in a fight they did talk to each other for a whole year! An interesting girl has many tales and has many more to come but the best way to hear them is to just ask her.

Kayla Harmon

            Kayla Harmon would love to visit Paris. She would like to go when she turns 25 as her birthday gift. She wants to bring her friend Makaela along with because they share the same interests, and she is fun to be around. When she goes she would like to visit the Eiffel Tower of course, and enjoy the different culture of food. “It is just so pretty there overall,” said Harmon.

            Kayla’s birthday is June 18, 2001. She has been to three schools before Hidden Valley High School, South Salem Elementary, G.W. Carver Elementary, and Andrew Lewis Middle School. She wants to be a photographer when she grows up. She hopes to become a photographer before she goes to Paris, so she can take photos while in Paris.

Karina Rodriguez

     Karina loves to do gymnastics. She has two practices a week for four hours. She started doing gymnastics in sixth grade. Gymnastics is a good place to cleanse her mind from stress.” It brings out my competitive side.” said Rodriguez.

     Karina Rodriguez was born in May 22, 2001 in Puerto Rico. Before she went to Hidden Valley high school she went to Westside elementary, Oak grove elementary, and Hidden Valley middle school. Her mom Sonia works at Advanced Auto Parts as the Human resource. Her dad Jose works at Plygym. She has one sister her name is Shannia she is seventeen years old.

Kai Vanderhoeven

                        Kai Alexander Vanderhoeven’s nickname is “Hitler.” People call him that because he is German. His dad is Dutch, and his teammates call him “Hitler” because he is German and he is the only blonde kid on the team.

            Kai was born on, September, 12, 2000. He has lived in Roanoke his whole life, and he attended a private school in Salem, VA for pretty much his whole life. For a living, his dad fixes ultrasound machines, and his mother runs a school.  Kai’s Dream job is to be a doctor, he also would like to play college lacrosse at John Hopkins. Kai also has 2 pets, and 9 siblings, but only 1 sibling lives at home. For a living, his dad fixes ultrasound machines, and his mother runs a school. Joshua Saunders

               Joshua Saunders likes to do wrestling. 1. Because josh would get bullied because of his size. 2. Joshua has been doing wrestling for about 3 years. 3. Joshua does wrestling so he does not get bullied again. “I did wrestling to get my anger out and so I don’t get bullied again” said Joshua

                Joshua has 9 snakes and 2 dogs. Joshua wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up. Jordan Duncan

Jordan Duncan loves to wrestle and is really good at it. He started wrestling when he was in 2^nd grade. Jordan won around 25 tournaments and placed 3^rd in states. He wrestles 2 days every week in the off-season and in the season he practices every day. “I love the feeling when I pin a guy to the ground,” said Duncan.

 His worst fear is very tall water slides. His worst injury is when he shot a pencil into his hand and it got infected, he had to surgery on it when he was younger. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on December 4^th 2000. Jordan wants to be in the Navy when he grows up. Before coming to the high school he went to Green Valley Elementary and Hidden Valley Middle School. His favorite college is Virginia Tech. Jordan will always love wrestling with a passion.

Garrett Laplante

      Garrett Laplante has been seriously injured many times. He’s already been injured ten times. His most recent injury was when he burned himself with Ramen. Burning himself was also his most painful injury out of the ten injuries he’s had. He was sitting on the couch eating Ramen when he spilled it and burned himself. “Don’t eat where your parents don’t tell you to eat.” said Laplante.

            Garrett Laplante was born in May 5, 2001, in Alberta, Canada. His mom Jennifer Laplante is a stay-at-home mom, and his dad Mark Laplante works at a software company. Also, he has an older brother, Noah, who is fifteen. He has a pet dog named Coco. He has lived in Canada, but now lives in Roanoke, VA. He went to Cave Spring Elementary School in Virginia. His nickname is “cripple” because of his many injuries.

Gabe Wright

            Gabe Wright loves to play football.  Gabe has been playing football since he was in fourth grade.  Gabe’s favorite position when playing football is wide receiver, or you could say “Wright receiver.”  Ha.  To make sure he’s as good as possible, Gabe likes to practice playing football about four times a week.  After practice, Gabe plays a game every Thursday.  Even though Gabe loves football, he hasn’t scored a touchdown… yet.  “Football is fun, it’s the most entertaining sport out there.” Said Wright.

            Gabe’s full names is Gabriel Michael Wright, but just goes by Gabe for short.  Gabe was born on October 16^th, 2000, and was born in Syracuse, New York.  Gabe’s favorite musical artist is ‘Panic at the Disco!’  His father, Michael Wright, is a “freakin’ computer wiz.  Gabe has a dog, which is a mix of a golden retriever and a beagle.  To top it all off, the most expensive item Gabe’s ever purchased was a laptop.

Chris Palmer

  Christopher Palmer loves Pokémon. Christopher feels in his own world when he plays nobody can touch him. He plays his game in his bedroom. Palmer said “I feel relaxed, calm, and I’m in my own world when I play Pokémon.”

  His full name is Christopher Mathew palmer but he goes by Chris.  Chris birthday is July 9^th and he went to hidden valley middle school before hidden valley high school. Also he was born in Kentucky, and he used to live in Blackstone.  Chris wants to be a video game designer at Virginia tech.  Chris has 3 siblings and their names are Andrew (17yrs), Alison (13yrs), and Madison (12yrs). Chris has a mom and a dad and their names are Tina (home mom), Robbie (police officer at the airport).

Cam Robertson

Cam Robertson is a great baseball player and is very dedicated to it. Cam started playing when he was about four years old. He is very talented at center field but loves to pitch the ball. He practices two days a week in the off season and every day in the season. His dream is to become a pro baseball player and make a living off of it. “Hitting dingers is the best feeling to experience,” said Cam.

Cams favorite pro team is the Orioles.

Cam Robertson was born on July 6^th 2000. He went to Oak Grove Elementary school and Hidden Valley Middle school. He would like to Attend South Carolina College and play baseball for them. His mother’s name is Kim and his father’s name is Terry. The worst experience Cam has ever been in was when he got lost at a water park by himself. His favorite toy as a child was the dancing SpongeBob. His favorite holiday memory was when he went to the outer banks with his family, they spent a whole week there. Lastly his favorite brand is Under Amour, he loves the sporty style and how it’s extremely comfortable.

Akyssa Smith

            Alyssa Smith’s favorite thing to do is playing soccer, it’s one of her hobbies. She plays for Valley AFC Express and for Hidden Valley High School. Her positions are forward and defense. She has 4 practice for 3 hours long every week, 2 games on the weekends, and 3 tornaments every season. She started playing soccer when she was 4 years old, her mom signed her up for Star and she’s been playing ever since. When Alyssa was 7 years old she got a concussion, the coach was teaching the team attack headers position off of punts, she headed the ball but collided into another player, after that incident she had to stop playing for a year. When she was 13 she was playing against Roanoke Star and her and another girl were headed toward the ball the other girl kicked for the ball and hit Alyssa’s knee and she tore her patella, meniscus, and it dislocates.  “Playing soccer helps me relieve stress.” Said Smith. Alyssa’s favorite part of soccer is getting to be with her team mates.

            Alyssa Smith’s birthday is December 12^th, 2000.  She was born in Richmond, Virginia. She’s lived in Petersburg Virginia and has gone to Cave Spring Elementary, Hidden Valley Middle School. Her parents’ names are Angela and Donald. Alex Arellano

                  Alex Arellano, grew up in the country. He has so many of his child hood memories away from the normal South West county lifestyle and at his father’s farm. At one point he even jumped out of a second-story barn window. His cousin had said he was going to jump, then did “If I didn’t jump out too It would’ve looked bad on me.” Said Arellano.

                  Alex Arellano,  is a 14 year old farm raised boy. Born in Harrisonburg Pennsylvania, Alex moved to Virginia at the age of 4. He has two brothers, both older, one Aligial Arellano, and one Christian Arellano. Both his parents work in restaurants, and he plans on going to U.N.C.

Abby Layton

Abby Layton took rocks from ancient temples in Italy. As a little girl in Italy she was surrounded by landmark. She always visited ancient temples. In Italy, it’s common to see ancient villages and temples in Italy. “half the time my mom was in there with me, they noticed but thought that I was cute” said Layton. When she went to the temples. My mom was in there with me . She would steal rocks surrounding the temple. No one noticed her because she was just a little girl. She ran out of the park and waited for her mom to come out.

She has one brother. She has lived in Italy, Oklahoma and many other places. Her parents both have jobs. Sometimes she wished she was an only child but, she does love her brother.

Aaron Moore

                  Aaron Moore, a ninth grade football prodigy, has won 90 out of 135 games in his short 9 years and counting. He plays running back and safety. Moore says “I’m happy playing the two, and would not want to be placed any wear else.” And “It’s a good medium to burn off steam.”

 Moore lives with his Mom, Dad and Sister who inspires Moore to go out there and chase his dream to make it to the NFL someday.  Gary, Whitney and Logon are their names. Moore wants to play football with Virginia Tech “if it’s not too crazy, I would love to play in the NFL with Virginia Tech.” Moore told me.
